file get out of "Operation not supported"

2 years 8 hours ago #5281 by fpi
Hi

working with :
Version 3.7.01
Build: 201803142330
System: macosx (10.10.5)
Architecture: x86_64

debug level

I can not open a project because of "Couldn't lock the 'Commandes' project : Operation not supported"

File Attachment:

File Name: modelio-20...14-0.log
File Size:19 KB

When I retried to open the project I have an other issue "The 'Commandes' project is already open by this Modelio instance". This message appears in a window error. An other window popped up but disappear to quickly to be read.

I do have the permission to write on the .runtime directory.

As you can see the lock file was created but empty.

$ pwd
/Volumes/share/modelio/Commandes/.runtime
$ ls -al
total 8
drwxrwxrwx 1 fplod lodyc 264 Aug 14 10:18 .
drwxrwxrwx 1 fplod lodyc 264 Aug 13 15:27 ..
-rw-rw-rw- 1 fplod lodyc 0 Aug 14 10:18 lock.dat
-rw-rw-rw- 1 fplod lodyc 4454 Aug 14 10:18 projectInfo.html

Can you please give me some clue to solve those two issues ?

Regards
Françoise

Dear fpi,

When you close the Modelio instance, is the lock.dat file still present in the /Volumes/share/modelio/Commandes/.runtime directory?

Hi pan

Newbie answer : how do I close the Modelio instance ?
If that means closing my Modelio session (Modelio 3/Quitter Modelio 3 - in French), the answer is yes and still empty.

Yes, that's it!

Could you share your project with us? ( More information about sharing a project )

Hi pan

I'd rather not share the project with the community .

I think it is more a problem of usage of macos filesystem.
Why ? Because :
- when I tried to create a new project on /Volume/share/modelio I had some issues : project is incomplety created

$ ls -alR p1_sadm/

p1_sadm/:
total 4
drwxrwxrwx 1 fplod lodyc 264 Aug 14 17:13 .
drwxrwxrwx 1 fplod lodyc 264 Aug 14 17:13 ..
drwxrwxrwx 1 fplod lodyc 264 Aug 14 17:13 .runtime
-rw-rw-rw- 1 fplod lodyc 284 Aug 14 17:13 project.conf

p1_sadm/.runtime:
total 4
drwxrwxrwx 1 fplod lodyc 264 Aug 14 17:13 .
drwxrwxrwx 1 fplod lodyc 264 Aug 14 17:13 ..
-rw-rw-rw- 1 fplod lodyc 0 Aug 14 17:13 lock.dat
-rw-rw-rw- 1 fplod lodyc 3929 Aug 14 17:13 projectInfo.html

- after copying the whole directory /Volume/share/modelio/Commandes in my home directory $HOME/modelio/workspace and switch Modelio workspace to this directory I do not have any problem to open and modify it.

/Volume/share/modelio is a shared directory with an AFP connection (shared with my colleagues working on either mac and windows).

I can create files in /Volume/share/modelio/Commandes/.runtime/ using unix command :

$ echo "test protection" > lock.info; more lock.info
test protection
dione:.runtime fplod$ ls -la
total 12
drwxrwxrwx 1 fplod lodyc 264 Aug 14 17:02 .
drwxrwxrwx 1 fplod lodyc 264 Aug 13 15:27 ..
-rw-rw-rw- 1 fplod lodyc 0 Aug 14 10:18 lock.dat
-rw-rw-rw- 1 fplod lodyc 16 Aug 14 17:02 lock.info
-rw-rw-rw- 1 fplod lodyc 4454 Aug 14 16:24 projectInfo.html

May be we need more precise information than the debug one to know why Modelio "Cannot get lock informations" and what is the "Operation not supported" with this AFP connection.

Is the /Volume/share/modelio directory a NTFS drive? If you share this drive with Windows users I guess it is a NTFS drive.

I think NTFS drives don't support by default macos (or linux) permissions. On MacOS, you should add full support for NTFS. Perhap's this article can help you: www.macplanete.com/tutoriels/22821/ntfs-macos-sierra ?

Let us know if it helps.
