In addition to what PAN said about read-only elements that can't be deleted, here is another important point.

Masking an element in a diagram means 'not showing it in this particular view of the model'.
It's not the same thing as deleting the element from the model.

In other words, just because you don't want to show an element in a diagram doesn't necessarily mean that you don't want it in your model (in another diagram for example).

oh, i get it.
I misunderstand the "delete" operation.
"delete" operation delete the item from the diagram and delete the class from the project.
I just want to delete the item from diagram and left it still in the model.
