check [Solved] How to make an auto UML class diagram from Java code?

6 months 2 weeks ago - 6 months 1 week ago #4845 by cononda
I have Modelio 3.7 installed. I try to replicate what I saw in a tutorial video. I want to auto create a UML class diagramm in modelio from Java source code.

What I have done:
- create a java project in modelio
- load the java files via Java Designer > reverse > reverse source

What is missing:
- in the video the package folder can be right-clicked to show an option "Create/Update automatic diagrams > Package structure" where package structure can be selected.

I don't have that option.

What am I doing wrong.

See also MyPic and TutorialPic.

Thanks for any help here.

PS: The Tutorial is using modelio 3.3...

Hi cononda,

These options are now available from the diagram creation wizard.
Right-click on a package and select the "Create diagram..." command.

Let us know if it helps.

Thank you very much, BR. :up

If you know of a better way to display class Attributes and Operations by default please let me know.

What I did to show class Attributes and Operations by default:

Configuration > Diagram themes > default > class > Attributes and Operations enable show
then update diagram in Model Browser via right-click > Automatic Diagram > update automatic diagram

It is the best way to display Class Attributes and Operations by default. You could also create your own theme to avoid to change the default settings.
By changing these default properties, when you will create a new class diagram the attributes and operations will be shown automatically.

But this configuration will be available only at project level so if you create a new project this modified theme will not be applied.
If you want to get this modified "default" style in another project you can import it:
- Close Modelio
- Locate your source project folder ($workspace/$projectname) then go to "data/.config/styles" directory. You will see *.style and *.theme files.
- Copy the default.style (this is the one you modified)
- Paste it and overwrite the one existing in your new project folder ($workspace/$newprojectname/data/.config/styles)
Open the new project and your modified default style will be applied.

Modelio provides an import command for themes and styles but if the style already exists it will not allow to overwrite it.

Hope this helps.
