question-circle [Solved] Trouble starting Modelio 3.1.2 on OSX 10.9.4

8 years 1 month ago #2862 by WillG
When attempting to start Modelio 3.1.2 on OSX 10.9.4, I am getting the following message when launching from the GUI.

To open "modelio" you need Java SE 6 runtime.

The file downloaded:
modelio-open-201405191231-macosx.cocoa.x86_64

Java 1.7.0_60 JDK is installed and verified

javac -version
javac 1.7.0_60

java -version
java version "1.7.0_60"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_60-b19)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.60-b09, mixed mode)

When launching from the command line, the following message is received:
No Java runtime present, requesting install.

Clearly the java runtime and the SDK are present. Need help here.

Hi,

There is an entry in the FAQ that may help you with this:

osl,
Thanks for the response. I had reviewed the FAQ which is why I added the JDK details. I only have Java 7 installed which I have verified numerous different ways. Are there any Modelio 3.1.2 properties files that might influence its behavior here?

There is an issue with the current version of Modelio 3.1.2 wrt to the eclipse launcher library plugin. The version it ships with org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.cocoa.macosx.x86_64_1.1.200.v20130521-0416 has an issue such that it will not run with a Java 7 JDK, at least not one where the version of the JDK is 1.7.0_60 or higher.

I downloaded the latest Kepler 4.2 eclipse which has a newer launcher library plugin; org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.cocoa.macosx.x86_64_1.1.200.v20140116-2212.
I added this library to the list of plugins, changed the launcher reference in the modelio.ini and this solved the problem. B)
