5 years 10 months ago - 5 years 10 months ago #2438 by scribnar
We downloaded Modelio 3.1 in Mac Version 10.9 and tried opening it. It fails to open. The Java version is 7 update 51 which is the latest.

Below is the message from Mac Console. Please help fix the issue. Thanks.

15/01/14 2:11:10.301 am modelio[618]: Unrecognized Java VM option ignored: -XstartOnFirstThread
15/01/14 2:11:10.304 am com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[355]: (org.modelio.product.141712[618]) Exited with code: 1

I tried opening modelio alias file and got below result in Terminal app.

Last login: Wed Jan 15 02:21:47 on ttys000
MacBook-Pro:~ sureshscribnar$ /Users/sureshscribnar/Desktop/Modelio\ 3.1/modelio.app/Contents/MacOS/modelio ; exit;
Error occurred during initialization of VM
Incompatible minimum and maximum heap sizes specified
logout

I tried editing the modelio.ini file under Modelio package/Contents/Mac OS folder. I added an option -Xms512m before the line -Xms512m. This opened the app however the app gave an error message to check a log file. I have attached the log file here.

I have attached the ini file also.

Hi scribnar,

From the log

java.version=1.6.0_65
java.vendor=Apple Inc.

According to the log, it seems Java 7 is not correctly installed.
Please, could you check into "System Preferences" if the option java is available ?
Also, if you open a terminal which java version is used when you run the following command: "java -version"

You can find a tip in our faq at this address:
www.modelio.org/documentation/faq-menu.html (How to make Modelio 3 work on MacOS X (version prior to 10.7.3) )

best regards,

Thanks for the reply. I get the below reply when I type java -version in terminal.

java version "1.6.0_65"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_65-b14-462-11M4609)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.65-b04-462, mixed mode)

Java control panel from system preferences shows Java 7 Update 51. Can I use the steps given for this also?

Is Modelio tested in Mac at all? The reason I am asking is that its not working in one of my colleagues Macbook Pro also.

Hi Scribnar,

Modelio 3.1 has been tested on a Mac OS X 10.8.5
I suggest you to follow the steps in the faq to use JDK 1.7 as preferred JRE.

Hi,

Modelio 3.1 has now been validated on Mac OS 10.9.1 too.

N.B. A JDK 1.7 is mandatory for Modelio to works on Mac OS, a simple JRE 1.7 is not enough.
You can download the JDK 1.7 dmg at oracle.com .

Best regards,
cde

Thank you both a lot. It works great after installing JDK.

Cheers.
