Hello,
when I add a second diagram, I can't edit it. The program is free right?

Hi,

Does your diagram have a context?

Hi,

If you cannot create objects in your diagram, it's probably because it has been created without a 'context'...

The 'context' corresponds to the element to which the diagram will be associated. To select this context, simply drag and drop the desired element(for example, a package), or click on it to switch to ‘picking’ mode, or else use the CTRL-Space shortcut to obtain a list of available elements.
Certain diagrams can be created without a context, (Class, Deployment, Object and UseCase) but these diagrams without context will only allow elements to be unmasked but not to be created in them. That's what happen to you I guess...

The simplest way to create a Class diagram with a context is to launch the 'Create a diagram' command from the contextual menu of the element on which you want to create the diagram, the 'context' will then be filled automatically with this element...

Check the online help for more information about this diagram context feature :

Hmm, thanks, it looks like you're right. I am just creating some diagrams for external illustration purposes at the moment, not doing MDD. So I didnt rtfm. Maybe other people would like to be able to make pretty uml drawings the same in an easy, intuitive manner? Then they would probably also like to have:

an easier way to set the data types for the attributes to something other than String?

Hi,

To set an attribute type, just click in the "Type" field, then:
1. Type in the first letters of the desired type (either a predefined type or a class from your model)
2. Hit Enter if you're sure there's only one possible choice, or Ctrl+Space to get a list of corresponding types.

'click' -> 'INT' -> 'Enter' => Integer

Once you've activated the "Type" field, you can also use the picking mode by browsing the model with your mouse. The cursor will change into a light bulb when you hover your mouse pointer over an elligible element.

Once you've got used to it, it's pretty simple!

Yes thank you, that is quite intuitive. But when you want to make UML diagrams with attributes of not-yet defined types, you cannot. Then I can add the type by drag and dropping it, but I don't want those types in this diagram, so I have to double-click the class in the model (view) and add the types there. OK, so I dont wanna complain, but since MDD by UML 2.0 is quite complex, it would be nice to have this simple drawing available and expand the model when you want.
